On May 20, 2026, the Indonesia Mold & Dies Industry Association (IMDIA) held its Fiscal Year 2025 General Meeting at Yayasan Matsushita Gobel, bringing together member company leaders, board members and senior advisors to review the past year’s achievements and set the direction for the year ahead. The meeting carried special significance, as 2026 marks IMDIA’s 20th anniversary since its founding in February 2006.

Chairman’s Remarks: Two Decades of Human Resource Development
In his opening address, IMDIA Chairman Djajadi Wikara welcomed member representatives, the board of directors and senior advisors, thanking them for their continued support. He reflected on IMDIA’s twenty years of commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of Indonesia’s mold and dies industry.
Among the highlights of 2025, IMDIA partnered with AOTS Japan to deliver a ten-day skills development training for 25 vocational school (SMK) teachers, many from outside Java, covering 5S and Kaizen principles, basic electronics, mold/dies manufacturing and factory visits to observe current industry technology. The association also completed a training-of-trainers program with two teachers from SMTI Yogyakarta, who underwent theoretical and practical training in basic milling at HTMC before applying their knowledge through on-the-job training with students, monitored by IMDIA instructors.
The Chairman emphasized that IMDIA’s core human resource development approach continues to be technology transfer from Japan, using the same skill-testing system applied there. This work is carried out through the New-MIDEC program, launched in 2023 in cooperation with the Japanese government, which will continue sending Japanese experts to support IMDIA members through 2028. The association’s ultimate goal remains full localization of mold/dies production among its member companies.
The Chairman also extended heartfelt thanks to Mr. Makoto Takahashi, who is concluding 20 years of dedicated service supporting IMDIA’s development as a key liaison for Japanese assistance through METI and MHLW. As Mr. Takahashi returns fully to Japan, IMDIA wished him continued health and hoped he would remain a bridge for communication with the Japanese government.
2026 Priorities
Marking its 20th anniversary, IMDIA plans to deepen its engagement with the Japanese government through JETRO, AOTS and SESPP Japan, while continuing its collaboration with the Ministry of Industry on low-cost reverse trade exhibitions. A new initiative launching in 2026 is a Robot Teaching Basic training program at the Panasonic Showroom, developed with the Matsushita Gobel Foundation and Panasonic Gobel Indonesia. Half of the training cost will be covered by AMEICC (AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee), with a target of 50 participants across five batches.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, IMDIA will also host a Golf Tournament, a Gathering, a Spinning Top Competition and a Symposium throughout the year.
The fiscal year 2025 activity policy centers on three areas:
- Human resource development: training 41 new instructors (870 cumulative), certifying 367 more members (5,900 cumulative) and maximizing workshop delivery at the high-tech mold/die center covering robot welding, CAD design and 5-axis machining.
- Strengthening organizational capability: improving member communication, making annual fee collection more effective and reinforcing the association’s financial structure by reviewing certification, banner and seminar-related costs.
- Increasing local mold/die production: promoting business collaboration agreements in mold, press and casting work, holding small-scale trade exhibitions to expand sales channels and supporting members by dispatching experts and strengthening manufacturing departments.
